Students who graduate with honors wear stoles indicating their special academic accomplishment. White stoles designate cum laude, gold stoles designate magna cum laude, and blue stoles designate summa cum laude graduates.
Students who earn a grade point average of 3.25 on academic work attempted graduate cum laude; those with an average of 3.50 graduate magna cum laude; and those who have an average of 3.75 or better graduate summa cum laude. Transfer students must earn 60 credit hours at MC Law to qualify for these designations.
Because the graduation ceremony is held before all grades are finalized, the honor designations for purposes of recognition at the ceremony are based on the student’s GPA at the time of the ceremony. The student’s final GPA is the basis for all honor designations that become part of the student’s permanent record. The honors are noted on final transcripts and on the diploma.
