Sports, Entertainment & Art Law Society

Sports & Entertainment Law Society

The Sports, Entertainment & Art Law Society (SEALS) is an organization founded on Educating, Networking, and Serving students interested in the legal aspects of sports, entertainment, and the arts.

The Sports, Entertainment & Art Law Society at Mississippi College School of Law is dedicated to providing a comprehensive platform for students to explore the legal frameworks governing these creative and competitive industries — including contracts, intellectual property, labor law, licensing, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution. SEALS prepares its members for careers in these fields while fostering community engagement and professional growth.

This interest-based organization strives to meet the following goals:

First, SEALS commits to education and awareness by hosting guest lectures, workshops, and panel discussions with attorneys, agents, executives, artists, and industry experts. These events provide members with practical insight into the legal complexities of sports, entertainment, and art law.

Second, SEALS fosters professional development through networking events, mentorship programs, and partnerships with alumni and industry professionals. Members gain access to career-building resources, including contract drafting simulations, mock negotiations, and portfolio or brand protection workshops tailored to creative industries.

Lastly, SEALS prioritizes community engagement and inclusion. The Society participates in service projects benefiting the Jackson community, collaborates with local organizations, and actively promotes diversity, equity, and representation in the legal profession and in the industries it serves.
