History of the MC Law Alumni Association

The Mississippi College School of Law Alumni Association was formed circa 1977 to assist the law school in becoming an outstanding institution for a legal education and to provide support for alumni. Since then, the Association has been an integral part of MC Law and assisted with obtaining accreditation by the American Bar Association.

In 1982, the Association began recognizing the special accomplishments of its members with a prestigious Alumnus of the Year award. The name of the award was changed to Lawyer of the Year when the Association adopted its first constitution in 1992. The constitution was amended in 2005 and then a new constitution was adopted in 2011. In 2005, the Association added a Young Lawyer of the Year award for alumni who graduated within the previous 10 years. These names are displayed at the campus of MC Law and also maintained on this website, where they can be viewed by clicking here
