During his 2L year at MC Law, Jaskirat Thind took a chance at being a part of the ABA Law Student Division Council by applying for the position of Delegate of Programming. This decision paid off, as he was elected to the Council in April for the 2023-2024 term. Already a successful entrepreneur before entering law school in 2021, Jaskirat has a passion for the law, specifically immigration law, which drove him to the decision to work toward a J.D. A long time Jackson area resident, he hopes to continue to serve the local community post-graduation.
As the Delegate of Programming, he is tasked with an outreach roll that connects current law students to resources available through the ABA. A large part of his outreach for this current semester has focused on mental health awareness, specifically Law Student Mental Health Day which coincides with World Mental Health Day on October 10. Through the promotion of available resources and programs for law students, he hopes to make a positive impact on the mental health of law students both on the MC Law campus and across campuses nation-wide. He has placed several activations on campus throughout the last month to gather videos of how other students de-stress as well as to offer support during strenuous times.
Jaskirat will serve a one-year term, ending in April of 2024 and will continue to coordinate outreach efforts to law students by sharing ABA resources and also acting as a representative for law students to the ABA.
