As conversations surrounding rising tuition and student debt continue nationwide, MC Law is doubling down on a simple promise of more opportunity at a lower cost.
While many law schools across the country have seen steady increases in tuition, MC Law maintains the lowest tuition of any private law school in the Southeast. Now, the school is pairing that affordability with new academic pathways designed to save students both time and money.
Expanding 3+3 Partnerships Across Mississippi
In a move aimed at shortening the traditional path to a law degree, MC Law recently signed a new 3+3 agreement with William Carey University.
Under the 3+3 model, qualified undergraduate students can enter a path that allows them to apply to MC Law after completing three years of undergraduate study. Their first-year law school credits then count toward completion of their bachelor’s degree, allowing them to earn both degrees in six years instead of seven.
The accelerated timeline saves students a full year of tuition, living expenses, and opportunity costs.
The new William Carey partnership builds on similar agreements with Mississippi State University, The University of Southern Mississippi, Mississippi University for Women, and Mississippi College. Troy University in Alabama is also a 3+3 partner with MC Law.
By expanding 3+3 partnerships statewide and beyond, MC Law is creating new pipelines for Mississippi students to pursue legal careers more efficiently and affordably.
“Fast Track to Mississippi Practice”
In addition to undergraduate partnerships, MC Law has introduced a new “Fast Track to Mississippi Practice” program aimed at addressing one of the most challenging financial periods in a law student’s journey, preparation for the bar exam.
Traditionally, graduates spend months studying for the bar exam after graduation, often without access to financial aid. Many must work while preparing, a situation that can jeopardize exam performance.
Under MC Law’s Fast-Track program, eligible students take the February bar exam during their third year of law school. Participants enroll in a four-credit-hour advanced legal analysis course that counts toward their JD degree while providing structured bar preparation within an academic environment.
After sitting for the February exam, students complete a capstone course to finish their degree requirements. Upon passing the bar, they graduate in May ready to begin practicing law immediately. The result is reduced financial strain, minimized downtime, and an immediate transition from student to practicing attorney.
A Message That’s Resonating
MC Law’s focus on affordability and innovation appears to be striking a chord. Applications are up significantly over last year’s record-setting class, a sign that prospective students are responding to the school’s commitment to delivering value in legal education.
As concerns about higher education costs continue, MC Law’s goal is to provide greater access, practical pathways, and meaningful savings.
