MC Law proudly commemorates its 50th anniversary with a series of remarkable achievements, as shared by Dean John Anderson in recent updates to alumni. Over the past few months, the dean has highlighted transformative campus renovations, the largest incoming class in over a decade with a median LSAT score increase of two points, and MC Law’s pioneering role as the second law school nationwide—and the first in the Southeast—to require AI certification for all 1L students before their summer clerkships. These milestones underscore MC Law’s commitment to innovative legal education. However, the most significant achievement, announced recently, is the law school’s unprecedented success in bar passage rates for the Class of 2025.
Preliminary results from the July 2025 Mississippi Bar Exam show that MC Law first-time takers achieved an impressive 89% pass rate, the highest in the state and the highest first-time pass rate for the July exam in the law school’s history. MC Law also led Mississippi in pass rates for retakers and overall performance, excelling by every tracked metric. This outstanding accomplishment reflects the strength of MC Law’s students, academic programs, dedicated faculty, and robust student support systems.
MC Law’s bar exam success extends beyond Mississippi. As the only law school outside of Louisiana to offer a Louisiana Civil Law Certificate, MC Law saw 15 of its 16 May 2025 graduates who took the Louisiana Bar Exam in July 2025 pass, achieving a remarkable 93.7% pass rate among those takers. This success highlights the quality of the school’s specialized civil law program and its graduates’ ability to excel in diverse legal jurisdictions.
Dean Anderson emphasized that bar passage rates are the ultimate measure of a law school’s success, demonstrating its effectiveness in preparing graduates for the legal profession. As MC Law celebrates its 50th anniversary, these historic results stand as a testament to its vibrant community of faculty, staff, students, and alumni. The law school expresses gratitude for the continued support of its alumni as it shapes the future of legal education in the state and nation.
