The Animal Legal Defense Fund’s (ALDF) mission is to protect the lives and advance the interests of animals through the legal system. As a national organization, it provides free legal assistance and training to prosecutors to ensure that animal abusers are held accountable for their crimes, supports animal protection legislation, and provides resources to law students and professionals to advance the emerging field of animal law.

The ALDF student chapter at MC Law is affiliated with the national ALDF organization and shares its mission to protect the lives and advance the interests of animals through the legal system. Mississippi is ranked 49 out of the 50 states for animal protection laws. The students of the ALDF chapter hope to help change that ranking through awareness programs and partnerships.

As a member of the ALDF, you have early access to internships, externships, and post-graduation jobs that other students do not receive. Additionally, all employment opportunities are remote, allowing you to work wherever life takes you! Previous students have been awarded grants to attend the International Animal Law Convention held in Portland, Oregon, and Los Angeles, California. Finally, students receive perks throughout the year, including complementary lunches and graduation cords upon completion of their degree.
