SRBLSA COMPETITION TEAMS & CONVENTION:

All three BLSA teams (two appellate and one trial) advanced at this year's regional competition!!!

Both Frederick Douglass teams advanced to the semifinal round. Denita Smith and Joslyn Anthony's team was ranked 4th overall. Jana Edmondson and Katrell Nash's team was ranked 3rd overall, and they advanced to the national competition which will be held in Detroit the last week of March.

The Frederick Douglas teams were coached by Marlena Pickering, Gail Walker and Omar Nelson.

Our Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition team advanced to the quarterfinals. Team members were Shundral Hobson (Team Captain), Isaiah Castilla, Damon Stevenson and Latasha Vinson. Jamie Travis of Page Kruger and Holland and John Hall of Brunini Grantham Grower & Hewes coached the team. Also, Prof. Pat Bennett served as the team's faculty advisor.

Our trial team won both of its preliminary rounds and was ranked 2nd going into the quarterfinal round. We lost the quarterfinal round by a very slight margin to a very good team that ultimately advanced to the final round.

Also, Isaiah Castilla was named best advocate for the whole mock trial competition. He received a perfect 52/52 score!!!
