The Student Chapter of the Mississippi Trial Lawyers Association is an organization which helps develop and encourage the practice of high standards of personal and professional conduct among law students. The MTLA Student Chapter provides for its members monthly lunch meetings which feature local trial lawyers and judges, as well as many opportunities to attend continuing education workshops at no fee. Student Chapter members are also eligible to attend the MTLA State and National Convention.
The Student Chapter of MTLA sponsors an annual charity event, as well as a Back to School Party in the Fall and a Finals Party in the Spring. Other advantages to the MTLA Student Chapter include assistance in summer clerkships among the MTLA statewide membership, and the annual MTLA scholarship available to students in their second year of law school to apply in their last year.
Through scholarship, education and communication, the MTLA Student Chapter strives to prepare its members for the challenges of the legal profession. Through these types of education experiences, membership in the MTLA Student Chapter lends its members a realistic perspective of how our adversarial system of justice works.
