MC Law Places Second in Nation at 23rd Annual Rendigs Competition

MC Law competed in the Twenty-Third Annual Rendigs Products Liability Moot Court Competition on April 9-10, 2010. The students traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio, where they competed against students from 30 other ABA-accredited law schools.

Two teams represented MC Law. Advocates Morgan Smith and Christopher Meredith composed the third-year team, and advocates Gina Kelley and Thomas Cooley made up the second-year team. Kelley and Cooley advanced to the quarterfinals, where they competed against Baylor Law School.  Smith and Meredith advanced all the way to the final round of the competition, where they faced off against Faulkner School of Law. The third-year team made a strong showing, finishing second in the nation and receiving an award for Best Petitioner Brief.

The third-year team was coached by Leigh Vernon (’99) of Watkins & Eager, and the second-year team was coached by Ashley Nader (’08) of Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens and Cannada, PLLC.  Professor Vicki Lowery, MC Law Director of Appellate Advocacy, also helped with both teams.
