MC Law Wins 2011 Regional ABA Representation in Mediation Competition

 

The Mississippi College School of Law Moot Court team won the 2011 Regional ABA Representation in Mediation Competition, held March 4-5, in Jackson, Miss. 

 

MC Law hosted the competition sponsored by the American Bar Association Section of Dispute Resolution.  The winning team consisted of second-year students Laura Hogan of Choudrant, La., and Sarah Beth Ritchey of Birmingham, Ala.   They defeated Faulkner University School of Law in the final round to become the 2011 champions.  Also representing MC Law were third-year students Carrie Buntain and Pete Stokes; and third-year student Derek Martin and second-year student Carrie McCormick.

 

The teams competing in the competition included Cumberland School of Law, Faulkner University, Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, Mississippi College School of Law, and Stetson University College of Law.

 

Regional ABA Media competitions were held at law schools across the nation.  The winning teams from each of the competing regions received an invitation to compete in the National ABA Mediation finals.  As the 2011 Regional ABA Mediation champions, Hogan and Ritchey will compete in Denver, Colo., on April 13-14.

 

The three MC Law teams were coached by Meredith Aden, professor and director of legal writing at MC Law.
