LAW SCHOOL’S BLACK LAW STUDENTS ASSOCIATION WINS THE FREDRICK DOUGLASS MOOT COURT COMPETITION FOR THE SOUTHERN REGION

Mississippi College School of Law’s Black Law Students Association (BLSA) moot court team of Marlena Pickering and Beverly Walker won the Fredrick Douglass Moot Court Competition for the Southern Region, which was recently held in Durham, NC. This team was sponsored by the Law School’s R. Jess Brown chapter of BLSA and coached by local attorneys Gale Walker of Wilkes & McHugh, Omar Nelson and Kabah McCullough of Thompson, Smith and Nelson.

                                                        

The Southern Region includes schools from the states of Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Georgia. The Law School’s winning team will go on to compete in the National BLSA Competition in Washington, D.C. on March 23-25 along with third runner up, Georgia State University and first runner up Florida State University.
