MC Law hosts pipeline programs, Professor Angela Mae Kupenda and 3L Talibah Smith present, June 2010


Professor Angela Mae Kupenda and 3L Talibah Smith presented at two pipeline programs, hosted by MC Law in June 2010.

MC Law hosted the Just the Beginning Foundation (JTBF) on Thursday, June 17.  JTBF, a nonprofit, is committed to supporting multi-racial students of color and students from other  underrepresented groups in the pipeline to becoming legal professionals.  It is partnered with a number of groups including LSAC/LSAT and CLEO. Professor Kupenda and Ms. Smith taught a mock class on the Equal Protection Clause for students in the
JTBF Piney Woods Summer Legal Institute.

Also, on June 17, MC Law hosted the 3rd Annual Tougaloo College, Reuben V. Anderson Pre-Law Program Summer Camp for high school seniors and undergraduates interested in legal education.  Kupenda and Smith led a discussion on "So you want to be a Legal Professional." This discussion was a dialogue with the students sharing their professional and personal goals, and  Kupenda and Smith guiding them in aritculating the necessary steps to achieve their goals.
