BLSA Hosts “Criminal Law 101: What Every Lawyer Should Know”
The Black Law Students Association at Mississippi College School of Law will host a lecture series entitled Criminal Law 101: What Every Lawyer Should Know on Sept. 20. The event, featuring a number of local attorneys and judges, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in the student center auditorium.
Panelists will include: Hinds County District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith; Patricia Bennett, former U.S. attorney and former Hinds and Yazoo county district attorney; John Colette, attorney and founder of John M. Colette & Associates; Harold Brittain, assistant U.S. attorney for U.S. Department of Justice, southern district; Scott Stuart, assistant attorney general for the state of Mississippi and former criminal defense attorney; and Dennis Sweet, attorney and founder of Dennis Sweet & Associates.
The panel discussion will provide a review of basic procedures for attorneys that do not have a criminal practice and offer an opportunity or current law students to learn more about the area of criminal procedure.
