Interlibrary Loan Services
Interlibrary Loan at the Mississippi College School of Law Library provides access to materials not located within the Mississippi College library system. Requests may be made by submitting an Interlibrary Loan Request Form. Please fill out the form and email it to dbleyker@mc.edu.
Availability
This service is available to current faculty, staff and students of Mississippi College School of Law. Other members of the Mississippi College community may request materials through the Interlibrary Loan Department of the Speed Library in Clinton.
Cost
Interlibrary Loan service is provided free of charge as long as the request is not unreasonably costly to the Library. You are responsible for any lending, overdue, lost or damaged book fines assessed by the lending library.
Time Frame
There is no way to know how long it will take to receive a requested item. A few days to a month may be required to obtain materials. You can check the status of your request by contacting the Interlibrary Loan Librarian at (601) 925-7147 or by sending a note to dbleyker@mc.edu. Once we receive the item, we will notify you by email or telephone.
Request Process
Before you submit a request, you must check the library online catalog to see if the item is owned by the Law Library or Speed Library. If the item is an article, also search appropriate online databases (such as Lexis, Westlaw, Hein-on-line and sources available at Speed Library) for availability.
Pick up and Return of Ill's
Some materials may be delivered to you electronically. All other materials obtained through Interlibrary Loan are to be picked up at and returned to the Law Library Circulation Desk.
Loan periods and renewals
The lending institution sets the loan period and other conditions. Items are due on the date written on the book strap; however if the lending library recalls an item, it must be returned immediately to the Law Library. Renewals may be requested before the due date by contacting the Interlibrary Loan Librarian at (601) 925-7147 or by sending an email to dbleyker@mc.edu.
Exception to Regular Material
Not all materials requested can be obtained. Examples of these materials are:
- Audio/visual materials
- Reference materials
- Microforms
- Complete issues of current or bound journals
- Archival materials (manuscripts, papers, etc.)
- Dissertations and theses
- Some government documents
If your request cannot be fulfilled, contact a reference librarian at the Law Library reference desk for alternatives in obtaining needed materials.
