Professor Angela Mae Kupenda presented her working paper, Examining the Black Female Struggling Class through the Lens of Law, Life and Literature, at the 2007 Obermann Humanities Symposium, From Bourgeois to Boojie: Black Middle-Class Performances, at the University of Iowa, October 24 -25, 2007. The Symposium was held in recognition of the 50th Anniversary of E. Franklin Frazier's controversial book, Black Bourgeoisie: The Rise of a New Middle Class. Her travel was funded by the Obermann Center for Advanced Studies and MCSOL.
