Graduation Information
MC Law holds one annual commencement ceremony at the end of the spring semester each May. Students graduating in December or August have the option of participating in the Mississippi College commencement ceremony held at the Clinton campus, or returning for the annual law school commencement in May.
Graduation Checklist
File the application for degree form with the dean’s suite (room 100, Administration Building) during the first month of the semester during which you will graduate (December graduates, early September, May graduates, early January). When your application has been received and processed, the graduation fee will be applied to your student account.
The director of law school records will prepare a graduation audit to make sure that you have fulfilled all degree requirements. Graduating students with deficiencies will be contacted.
If you have any questions about your status, please contact the director of law school records at 601.925.7105.
Attend the Graduation Fair (spring only).

If you do not attend the graduation fair, this information is available in the dean’s suite.
Complete your student loan exit interview for the type of loan you received prior to the end your final term. You will not be able to pick up your regalia until you have completed this form.
Clear all accounts, including library fees/fines, after your last exam. You will not be able to pick up your regalia unless your accounts are clear.
Honors at Graduation
Students who graduate with honors wear stoles indicating their special academic accomplishment. White stoles designate cum laude, gold stoles designate magna cum laud, and blue stoles designate summa cum laude graduates.
Students who earn a grade point average of 3.25 on academic work attempted graduate cum laude; those with an average of 3.50 graduate magna cum laude; and those who have an average of 3.75 or better graduate summa cum laude. Transfer students must earn 60 credit hours at MC Law to qualify for these designations.
Because the graduation ceremony is held before all grades are finalized, the honor designations for purposes of recognition at the ceremony are based on the student’s GPA at the time of the ceremony. The student’s final GPA is the basis for all honor designations that become part of the student’s permanent record. The honors are noted on final transcripts and on the diploma.
Diplomas
Diplomas are not prepared until all grades have been processed for the semester. Diplomas are available for pick up in the dean’s suite four to six weeks after the semester is completed. You will be notified by e-mail when diplomas are ready. If you are not able to pick up your diploma, it will be mailed to the address you provide.
