MCSOL places special emphasis on the benefits of judicial clerkships. Two seminars are held each year: one early in the first semester for 3L's and one late in the second semester for 2L's. Current judges and clerks are brought in to meet with students to explain the benefits, duties, and requirements for judicial clerks as well as answer any questions students might have. Prof. Debbie Challener, former clerk for the 10 th Circuit in Kansas and the Federal District Court in Nashville , Tennessee , is our faculty advisor for the students.

Students are encouraged to take advantage of the newly developed On-Line System for Clerkship Application and Review (OSCAR). OSCAR is a web-based system that enables clerkship applicants to file complete applications, and recommenders to file letters of recommendation, on-line. Applicants will be able to sort and screen clerkships and designate the OSCAR-participant judges to whom they wish to apply. Judges will be able to sort and screen the applications directed to them. Law school administrators will be able to view student applicant information, upload applicant documents, and coordinate the submission of faculty letters.
