Doug Weaver '80 presented with the 2006 Florida Wildlife Federation's Land Conservationist of the Year Award.

Doug Weaver ’80 was presented with the 2006 Florida Wildlife Federation’s Land Conservationist of the Year Award. This award honors an individual who has made a significant contribution in developing and using sound land-use management plans and land conservation practices. Doug was noted for his dedication to preserving and protecting Florida’s fish and wildlife and other nature resources.

Doug, a 25-year county employee, manages the County’s land acquisition and management program, which includes the Volusia Forever program.

Recently, Doug was also presented with the Citizen of the Year award from the Volusia County Association for Responsible Development (VCARD).

For the Citizen of the Year Award, Doug was noted for recognizing the value of preserving Volusia County’s environmental areas, while understanding proper planning practices and respecting the rights and concerns of the owners of environmental lands.
