Hugh Gibson was inducted into the 2007 Class of Fellows for the Mississippi Bar Foundation on April 12, 2007.
James W. Smith Jr. is Chief Justice and the longest serving member of the Mississippi Supreme Court. Smith was recently inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame at the University of Southern Mississippi.
1979
Circuit Judge Sharion Aycock of Tupelo has been nominated to the federal bench in the Northern District of Mississippi. Aycock’s name was among 11 judicial nominations sent to the U.S. Senate on Monday from the White House. She was nominated to replace retiring U.S. District Judge Glen H. Davidson.
Edwin L. Bean was elected to the Board of Directors for the Mississippi Bar.
1980
Glenn Rishel was appointed as Harrison County’s first full-time public defender.
Douglas Weaver was named the Land Conservationalist of the Year by the Florida Wildlife Federation.
1983
Marcia Davis has passed the Board Certification Examination offered by the Florida Bar in the field of Civil Trial Law.
Morris Sweatt has been appointed as assistant district attorney for the 15th Circuit Court District of Mississippi.
1984
Reeve G. Jacobus Jr. was appointed as an officer to the Mississippi Bar Estates and Trusts Law section for 2006-2007.
1985
A. Rex Gabbert ranked at the top in the Missouri Attorney polls for the retention of non-partisan judges. Gabbert received 99.2% approval rating, which is the highest in the state of all supreme court, appellate and trial judges.
Linda A. Thompson serves as administrative judge of the Mississippi Worker’s Compensation Commission and teaches Workers’ Compensation Law as an adjunct professor. Thompson is coauthor of a book entitled Mississippi Workers’ Compensation, published in July 2006, by Thomson/West.
1986
Judge Michael T. Parker was invested as a Federal Magistrate Judge on October 27, 2006.
Paul E. Rogers and his wife Mandy were recognized as USA Weekend’s “2006 Most Caring Coaches,” and recently appeared on the Hallmark Channel’s Namoi’s New Morning, a show hosted by Grammy-winning country music singer Naomi Judd.
1989
Monroe City Court Judge Scott Leehy was elected to 4th Judicial District Court, Division A, to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Jimmy Dimos. He is a former assistant district attorney and served as the staff attorney for the Department of Social Services.
Lieutenant Governor Amy Tuck spoke at Mississippi State University’s graduation ceremony in the fall of 2006.
1991
James Ronald Ansley was recently named president-elect of the National FFA Alumni Association Council at the Annual FFA-FFA Alumni Convention in Indianapolis. FFA Alumni supports quality education for America’s youth by creating an environment where people in communities can develop their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success.
Brett Boyer was recently hired as the first city administrator in Ratdrum, Idaho. He previously worked as the town manager in Bayfield, Colorado.
1992
Michael K. Graves opened “The Swing Shoppe,” a retail facility specializing in tennis and golf apparel, equipment, and accessories in Southaven, Mississippi.
Bridgett ‘92 and Lyle Robinson ‘00 celebrated the birth of their second child together Abigail Katherine "Abby" (Bridget's third) on October 5, 2006. She weighed 7lbs 13 oz and was 21 inches long.
1993
Ricky J. Cox has been named to the Mississippi Business Journal’s “Top 40 Under 40.”
Dawn Elizabeth DeKlerk recently moved her law office of Dawn Elizabeth King, P.C., to Decatur, GA.
Cynthia Eldridge has been appointed to the Office of Professional Responsibility in the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. She is on a Rapid Response Team, which investigates allegations of attorney misconduct, specifically Assistant United States Attorney throughout the United States. This is a one-year appointment.
Douglas G. Mercier has become associated with the firm of Simmons Law Group, P.A. in Ridgeland, MS.
Karen Jean Tufte and John Heaning were joined together in marriage on January 6, 2007.

Aileen McNeill was appointed as an officer to the Mississippi Bar Business Law section for 2006-2007.
Brent Miller has been promoted to Assistant Vice President at Trustmark in the wealth management department.
Lisa Berry-Tayman has joined Baker & Daniels LLP as an associate in the Downtown Indianapolis office. She concentrates her practice in business litigation.
1996
Bradley S. Clanton was appointed as a shareholder in Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz. Clanton, who practices from the firm’s Jackson and Washington, D.C. offices, concentrates his practice in government litigations, securities and other fraud investigations, and litigation, election law and appeals.
H. Craig Davidson and his wife celebrated the birth of their daughter, Zoe Gwen Davidson. She weighed 8lbs. 9ozs.
M. Mark Majors was promoted to the rank of Major. He is a full-time Judge Advocate and legal advisor to the Adjutant General.
Brent Miller has been promoted to assistant vice president at Trustmark in the Wealth Management department.

Mike Rhodes was named publisher of the magazine Jackson Christian Family. Rhodes also serves on the board of directors of the Better Business Bureau.
Joseph John Tierney Jr. was named a partner at Young Clement Rivers & Tisdale, LLP in Charleston, South Carolina.
John Moore and his wife Penny celebrated the birth of their daughter, Julia Oberhausen Moore, on April 27, 2007. She weighed 6lbs 9oz, and was 19 3/4in long.

Melissa Malouf Brown and her husband Wilson celebrated the birth of their son, Sebastian Malouf Brown on November 30, 2007. He weighed 9 lbs 14oz and was 21 1\4 inches long.
Don W. “Skipper” Creed, Jr. was appointed District Judge in District 19B of North Carolina (Moore, Montgomery, and Randolph Counties).

Thomas Walter and his wife Teresa celebrated the birth of their son Galen Thomas Anthony Walter on March 11, 2007. He weighed 2 lbs 6 oz and was 15 inches long.

Kelly Riley Blackwood was appointed as an officer to the Mississippi Bar Energy and Environmental Law section for 2006-2007.
Susan Louise Durham has become a member of the Wells Moore Simmons & Hubbard law firm.
Mary Jacqueline Easley has been named Editor of Opinions for the Mississippi Supreme Court. She previously worked for two years as Senior Attorney at the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.
Gary P. Graham was featured by Super Lawyers and Atlanta Magazine as a 2006 Georgia Rising Star.
Paula Hopper joined the Government Affairs Team at the firm of Kilpatrick Stockton. Paula is joining the firm's Raleigh, North Carolina office as Counsel in the Employee Benefits, Labor and Employment Department.
Rebecca Leigh Langston took over as Chairman of the New Lawyers’ Division of the American Association for Justice in July 2007. She is the first chairman from the state of Mississippi to hold this position.
Clint and Mary Pentecost celebrated the birth of their second child, Jackson “Jack” Luis Penetecost on March 31, 2007. He weighed 8 lbs 15 oz and was 21 ½ inches long.
Clint was recently appointed as an officer to the Mississippi Bar Intellectual Property Law section for 2006-2007.

Curtis L. Bates was appointed as city prosecutor for Waynesboro, Mississippi.
Angela T. Carpenter announced the formation of Carpenter Law Firm. Carpenter was also recently appointed as a public defender for the 9th Circuit Drug Court program in Warren County.
Jeffrey Carson graduated from the University of Miami School of Law in the Graduate Program in Estate Planning (LLM) in May 2007.
Omar Nelson was elected as vice president of the Mississippi Trial Lawyers Association for 2006-2007.
Jeff Padgett was certified as a NFL Agent by the National Football League Player Association (NFLPA). He is proud to announce the establishment of “Goin’ Pro Sports Management, LLC,” which will handle the representation of athletes in the NFL as well as other professional athletes in different sports.
Aubrey “Trey” Smith, III has accepted the position of Senior Attorney at the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.

Joseph Lee McCoy, Jr. and his wife Leticia celebrated the birth of their son, Reese on October 13, 2006.
Sean Tindell and Claire Panter Tindell were married on November 4, 2006 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Biloxi, MS. Tindell works as a prosecutor in the District Attorney’s office and is the lead prosecutor for Hancock and Stone Counties.

David Lee Gladden, Jr. and Whitney Lauren Warner ’07 were united in marriage on April 21, 2007.
Matthew McLaughlin was recently appointed as a board member of Leadership Greater Jackson.
Adam Michael has joined the firm of Greer, Stansfield & Turner, LLP in Covington, Georgia. He will be concentrating in complex real estate litigation.
Linda Dixon Rigsby was recently appointed as the Assistant Secretary of State for Elections for the State of Mississippi.
Olivia Rowe has joined the firm of Leatherwood, Walker, Todd & Mann, P.C. in Greenville, South Carolina. She is practicing in the areas of real estate, finance, and commercial transactions.
Jennifer Rush and her husband John celebrated the birth of their daughter, Ann Garvin Rush, on May 2, 2007. She weighed 7 lb 7.1 oz and was 20 1/4 inches long.

Allison Brewer and her husband, David celebrated the birth of son, Matthew on February 2, 2006.
Cameron Fisher and her husband celebrated the birth of their first child, a daughter, McKena Sinclair on January 25, 2006.

Terry (T.K.) Ellis has accepted the position of Medical Director over the Emergency Room in Winona, Mississippi.
Sam Martin and his wife celebrated the birth of their daughter, Kendall Elise.
Amber Depriest and Lee Carter Massengill were joined together in marriage on December 16, 2006 in Cookesville, Tennessee. The couple now resides in Bristol, Tennessee, where Amber is an Assistant District Attorney General for the 2nd Judicial District of Tennesseee. Carter is a shareholder in Massengill & Caldwell, P.C., where he is in a general practice.
Melissa Nunley and Michael Jerome Reso were joined in marriage on April 14, 2007 in Orange Beach, Alabama.
Michael Lee Scott and his wife Hunter celebrated the birth of their son, Jacob on January 17, 2007.

Arin Clark Hewes Adkins and her husband David celebrated the birth of their second child, William Hart Adkins on July 6, 2006. He weighed 8 lbs 1 oz.
George Sammons Clark Burrow is currently serving as General Counsel to his family’s real estate investment company in Memphis, Tennessee.
Jason Davis has joined The Mississippi Attorney General’s Office in the Criminal Division.
Tiffany S. Mikkelson has joined Watkins, Ludlam, Winter and Stennis, P.A., as an associate in the firm’s Jackson office.
John Scanlon and Katherine Mills were married on February 18, 2006. Scanlon has recently joined the law firm of Baria, Hawkins & Stracener, PLLC, in Jackson, MS.

Scott Thomas Williamson was elected to the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Bar--Young Lawyers Division.
Tim Sensing and his wife Breanna celebrated the birth of their son Noah William Sensing on March 20, 2007. He weighed 7 lbs and 3 oz and was 19 inches long.
Jay Mastin and his wife Natalie celebrated the birth of their daughter, Hannah Mae, on May 11, 2007.
In Memoriam
George F. Adams ’50 of Tupelo, MS, died May 19, 2006. He was a graduate of the Jackson School of Law. Mr. Adams was a veteran having served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war, Mr. Adams practiced law in Tupelo with his father for many years. In 1975, he became a Chancery Judge where he sat on the bench for 16 years. Mr. Adams was also a Board Member Emeritus with Renasant Bank.
Charles “Chuck” Anderson ‘91 passed away on October 9, 2005.
James Edward Allen ‘58 of Mize, MS, died April 6, 2006. He was a graduate of the Jackson School of Law.
Jack W. Blasingame ‘69 of Alexandria, Virginia passed away on September 4, 2007. He was a graduate of the Jackson School of Law. He joined the Department of Veterans Affairs in 1963, working as a lawyer int eh Jackson regional office. IN 1973, he was transferred to Washington, where he was a member of the Board of Veterans Appeals. He retired in 1999. Mr. Blasingame was a veteran, having served in the Navy in World War II.
Ernest Freddrick Dobbins ‘81 of Leakesville, MS, died April 27, 2006. Mr. Dobbins served in the House of Representatives for two terms and was a member of the George-Green Bar Association.
Sara F. Gallaspy ‘69 of New Augusta, Mississippi passed away on April 11, 2007. She was a graduate of the Jackson School of Law. She was current Perry County Prosecuting Attorney, former Perry County Public Defender, former New Augusta City Attorney, and New Augusta Municipal Judge. She was the former Deputy Director of the Mississippi Municipal League for 20 years.
See Emmit Holmes ’62 of Jackson MS, died April 23, 2007. He was a graduate of the Jackson School of Law. Mr. Holmes was an attorney in Jackson, former President of the Trial Lawyers Association of Hinds County, real estate developer, and a former member of the 172nd Air Lift Wing of the Air National Guard. Mr. Holmes was a veteran, serving from the end of Word War II through Vietnam in the National Guard. During his military career, he flew the RB 26, C119, C121 and the C124. His flight missions spanned the globe.
James Everett Lambert ‘78 of Jackson MS, died July 17, 2006. During law school, he served on the Law Review and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Mr. Lambert was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force.
Andrew M. Landry ‘66 of Brandon, MS, died May 9, 2006. He was a graduate of the Jackson School of Law. Mr. Landry was a veteran having served in World War II and was a past Adjutant of the Mississippi 172 Air National Guard Unit. He was the former Associate Director of the Jackson Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Martha G. Love ‘69 of Waynesboro, Mississippi passed away in November 2006.
James H. “Farmer Jim” Neal ‘53 of Clinton, Mississippi passed away in November 2006. Farmer Jim Neal was a popular radio personality in Jackson for decades. He was a graduate of the Jackson School of Law. He was a member of the Mississippi Legislature for 20 years,
Kay Henry Patterson ’69 passed away on February 22, 2007. She was a graduate of the Jackson School of Law. In 1972, Kay and her husband Bill opened and jointly-operated The Patterson Agency, an insurance agency. She was an active member of the firm up until her death.
