Mission First Legal Aid Clinic

 Fall and Spring Semesters

The Mission First Legal Aid Clinic provides skill-focused instruction on Chancery Court practice in Mississippi, reinforced by providing legal advice and assistance to clients. Students may conduct initial client interviews, conflict screening, communicate with clients, opposing counsel and court staff, research legal issues, prepare documents, and represent clients in court proceedings and administrative hearings. Subject areas may include government benefits, housing, consumer debt, probate, and family law matters.

The clinic is offered every fall and spring semester. Enrollment in the clinic is by application, and students must complete at least 45 credit hours in order to enroll in the clinic. Preference is given to third year law students. Students must be eligible for admission for limited practice in Mississippi.
