MC Law Wins Awards at The Jeffrey G. Miller National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition (NELMCC)
MC Law competed in the national competition at The Jeffrey G. Miller National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition (NELMCC) in White Plains, New York, the weekend of February 23, 2017. 3L Stevie Farrar and 2L Grace Dobbs competed for MC Law. (Pictured left) Stevie Farrar won Best Oralist Preliminary Round One and Best Oralist Preliminary Round Three. The team advanced to the quarterfinal round.
Professor Donald Campbell, Kate Morgan ‘13 of the MS Supreme Court, Keith Turner ‘98 of Watkins and Eager and Candace Rucker ‘16 coach the team. The team is sponsored by Entergy Mississippi.
MC Law Champions and Semi-finalists of Regional Competition of the National Appellate Advocacy Competition
MC Law teams competed in the National Appellate Advocacy Competition’s regional event the weekend of February 23, 2017. On one team were 3L’s Owen Terry, Caroline Smith, and brief-writer Kristen Swearengen. On a second team are 3L Regan Murphy, and 2L’s Patrick Fields and brief-writer Drew Bigelow. Owen Terry and Caroline Smith, supported by brief-writer Kristen Swearengen, won the final round finishing the competition as Regional Champions. The team (pictured top right) was invited to compete in the national competition April 6-8 in Chicago, Illinois. Regan Murphy and Patrick Fields, supported by brief-writer Drew Bigelow finished as semi-finalists. Regan Murphy won a Best Oral Advocate Award.
Meta Copeland ’98 of MC Law; Lindsey Watson ‘09 of Adams and Reese LLP; Nick Morisani ‘09, and Todd Butler ‘08 both of Phelps Dunbar coached the teams.
