Moot Court Highlights and Update
Stetson National Pretrial Competition
MC Law's Moot Court team placed as semifinalists and won the Best Plaintiff's Memorandum of Law at Stetson National Pretrial Competition. The competition took place in Gulfport, Fla., October 12-15, 2017. Only 16 teams are invited in participate in the competition. Teams are asked to receive a problem based on normal pretrial issues, write two memoranda of law, make oral arguments, and then shift to an evidentiary hearing during which team members are required to present evidence and make a closing argument.
Team members Lindsay Roberts (’18), Caroline Conerly (’18), Brittney Piñon (‘18), and Ray Young (’18) represented MC Law. Assistant Dean of Admissions Meta Copeland served as coach for the team.
E. Earle Zehmer National Moot Court Competition
During the E. Earle Zehmer National Moot Court Competition, Caroline Conerly (’18) won Best Oral Advocate, and Brittney Pinon (’18) won the second place Oral Advocate Award. Team members included: Brittney Pinon, Caroline Conerly, and Kathryn Pickett (’18). The competition took place August 7, 2017 in Orlando, Fla.
